A large scale MHD simulation at TAE (A. Necas et al.). The Field Reversed Configuration plasmoids have been stably merged and shock-heated, showing hot FRC plasma at the center surrounded by the external mirror fields, well corresponding to the experimentally observed behavior. A 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulation by the code called NIMROD. The strings show the magnetic field lines with redder colors meaning stronger field strength.
