Dr. James (Jim) Ang is a longtime leader in system architecture design and performance, and was most recently the manager for Scalable Computer Architectures at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). He has more than 25 years of experience in establishing computer industry R&D projects to support the needs of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) HPC and high-performance data analytics.
Dr. Ang has fostered opportunities to collaborate with the computer industry through test, evaluation and feedback on preproduction hardware and support for holistic co-design. He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley.
His interests include the development of usage and investment policies for Sandia’s Cplant System, and the development of integrated platform strategies for Sandia’s usage of Cplant, ASCI Red, White, Q, and Red Storm, validation and verification processes for scientific simulation, and hypervelocity impact physics.
