Converging and Consolidating Algorithmic and Technology Innovation in Dense Linear Algebra Software

As the need to support hardware accelerators grows, ECP’s Software for Linear Algebra Targeting Exascale (SLATE) project is developing a replacement for the Scalable Linear Algebra PACKage (ScaLAPACK) library, the industry standard for dense linear algebra operations.

Jakub Kurzak, a research assistant professor at the University of Tennessee’s Innovative Computing Laboratory, shares insights with ECP Communications Manager Mike Bernhardt about the SLATE project on the Let’s Talk Exascale podcast.

Topics discussed:

  • A brief overview of SLATE
  • The foundational role of linear algebra and math libraries to high-performance computing and scientific research
  • The collaborative relationships
  • SLATE’s accomplishments
  • The intangible benefits of being a part of ECP
  • SLATE’s next activities
